Hi, I’m Maygen, and this is the official production blog for my short film
The Dreamer’s Guide. This project is a surreal psychological fantasy that follows a girl trapped in shifting dream worlds, guided by a mysterious figure who appears to help her… but might be leading her deeper into fear. The story explores anxiety, confusion, and identity through dream logic, symbolic environments, and unsettling transformations.
I created this blog to document the full process of bringing this film to life, from storyboards and planning to filming and visual effects. I’ll be posting updates about what I’m working on, what I’m learning, and how the film is growing step-by-step.

My goal for this film:
I want The Dreamer’s Guide to feel emotional, surreal, and visually meaningful. I don’t want the dream scenes to look random. I want them to feel like they’re saying something, even when they’re scary or confusing.
2026
Started Morphing and light.
The lantern will morph into her face. with the lighting all creepy on the face. I will take a 3D model of the actor and animate the face creepy in maya. Then edit the lantern and face into one on an editing platform.
The lighting will be animated with the head but the rest will need to do that in post.
Have to redo the textures for the lantern it was not what I wanted.
